Possible COVID-19 Solution
COVID-19 virus life span is just few days which mean that if we can fully quarantine as a nation for only 3 weeks and can ensure that no additional virus can come in to the country from overseas, we can get rid of this virus once and for all. To accomplish this goal, we will have to do the following
a) We have an absolute shut down all over the country for 3 weeks.
Let’s get all the governors on board and have every state commit to an absolute shut down for 3 weeks starting on a specific nationwide lock down date so all residents can buy enough groceries and prepare themselves with ease. Every state is required to totally eliminate the virus which means:
No one is allowed to be out on the road unless emergency, all shops & businesses must be shut down. If anyone needs to go out, they need to call in to the mayor office (being handled by volunteers working from home) and inform the reason and will be allowed to be outside for emergency basis. Each mayor is responsible for their own town and should be responsible for making sure that mayors along with necessary city employees and officials are taking care of seniors, anyone with emergencies etc. and taking care of all their residents with compassion. Backup county and state offices helplines should be there for any complaints or to handle any escalations and emergencies. All other necessary steps should be taken to ensure safety and security of all the citizens.
Anyone with severe and even with mild symptoms prior to lockdown or during the lockdown should be required to be shifted to hospitals where full care is provided to them with compassion. Those who are unwilling to do that should quarantine at home but all family members of that patient should be required to get their corona virus testing done on weekly basis.
After 3 weeks period is over and if the above was properly done and managed by each state, there should be no cases of Corona virus in that state.
b) All imports should be sanitzed and should not be released immediately.
All imports or anything which is coming to United States from overseas should go through sanitization and have at least 10 days of quarantine period so all the incoming ports should arrange storage accordingly and release any shipment coming in from outside US after minimum 10 days and proper sanitization regardless of the size of the shipment.
c) All incoming and outgoing international travel should require COVID test.
All incoming visitors should be required to have Covid clearance and testing done prior to arrival and also after 3 days of arrival. Also, all the departing passengers should be required to have Covid test as well. Rapid covid testing should be required for any domestic travel.
d) Every state should eliminate COVID or go back for second lock down.
After the shutdown, if any state has above threshold rate, they should again go back to absolute shut down for additional 2 weeks and no one should be allowed to enter or leave that state without Covid testing clearance. All the goods from the state should have to go through 10 days quarantine period and emergency goods should go through sanitization process and should have sanitization certificate.
The above is a possible solution and definitely need proper planning and further discussions to make it better and practical for everyone. Other countries around the world have controlled the Corona virus through similar shut downs and proper planning and we believe U.S. can do much better job than any other country to control this virus with all the infrastructure and by involving all our citizens. This combined & unified lock down approach can be a better solution to end COVID once and for all.
