Ways to protect your pets in winters

Cool Story - Ways to protect your pets in winters

The weather is getting harsh every coming day. When the temperatures start to drop, we turn on the heat and add more blankets to our beds. Humans can bear this harsh climate in various things.

But it is much difficult for our outside pets to bear this hard weather and if your pet stays outdoors much of the day for any reason, they must be protected by the weather conditions.

Given below are some other ways to protect your favorite outside friends during the winter.

Keep your pets sheltered

Try to keep your pets inside with you. Don't leave your pets outdoors when the temperature drops.

Arrange a dry, draft-free shelter for outdoor pets that allow you to move comfortably and can hold in body heat. Its floor should be covered and raised from the ground level. You should also cover its doorway.

Provide them more food to keep them warm. Check your pet's water dish timely to make freshwater availability and instead of using metal bowls you should use plastic bowls,

Bundle up, wipe down

Exposed skin is at risk for frostbite and hypothermia For this reason, short-haired dogs often feel more comfortable wearing a sweater.

Remove common poisons

Antifreeze is a deadly poison, but it has a sweet taste that may attract animals. Coolants and antifreeze made with propylene glycol are less toxic to pets, wildlife, and family.

Protect outdoor animals

You can make your cat shelter quickly and easily with a plastic tub.

Cars are one of many hazards to small animals—warm engines in parked cars attract small animals in winters and they may crawl up under the hood. To avoid injuring, bang on your car's hood to scare them away before starting your engine.

Horse care

If you own a horse then make sure that your horses have access to a barn or a three-sided run-in so they can escape the wind and cold.

Try to keep them blanketed throughout the winter. It will keep them warm and dry.

Give your horses access to unfrozen water at all times. You can also use heated buckets or water heaters or de-icers.
