Flooring store celebrates 50 years with 50+ random acts of kindness

Cool Story - Flooring store celebrates 50 years with 50+ random acts of kindness

After 50 years in operation, a small firm in Lycoming County continues to give back to the community all year long.

During 50 years of service, Corter's Flooring USA will be performing 50 acts of kindness while traveling through Williamsport throughout the year while donning red t-shirts.

“Maybe we'll appear at a carwash," Jim Fink said.

"Maybe go to the grocery shop and purchase some food," Shane Corter added.

"And we'll continue doing it all year long, right up to December," said Fink.

The president and vice president of Corter's Flooring are Fink and Corter.

They performed their first act on Friday by covering people's gas costs.

They hand people a card outlining the situation while wearing red shirts.

According to the company owners, it's a nice way to express gratitude to the neighborhood for its support over the years.

In March 1973, the store was inaugurated by Fink's father and Corter's grandfather.

"We needed to do something maybe a little extra because, to be honest, it's been 50 years, and that's not easy for any retailer to achieve," said Fink.

They said that their employees' strong work ethics and successful business practices have made for good business throughout the years.

“We have a terrific reputation for keeping our word and crossing our Ts and dotting our Is," said Fink.

They claimed to have numerous plans for their year-round random acts of kindness, including particular ones during the holidays like purchasing Christmas trees.

Corter's also intends to assist neighborhood emergency personnel.
