The Dubai Crown Prince, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, today met with participants in the "Gallant Knight 2" operation in the Turkish city of Kahramanmaraş from the Dubai Corporation for Medical Services and Dubai Police's search and rescue squad.
He emphasized the UAE's dedication to offering aid to those in need during difficult times, which is motivated by the ideals of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
As part of the UAE's "Gallant Knight/2" mission to aid the earthquake victims, the Emirati search and rescue teams were successful in saving several persons in Turkey. After 120 hours of rescue attempts, a man in his fifties or sixties and an 11-year-old boy were rescued.
The UAE remains dedicated to lending a helping hand to communities around the world in need under the guidance of the UAE President, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and the support of the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, he said.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Dubai Police, Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, was with His Highness at the meeting at Expo City Dubai.
As part of the effort to assist those who were impacted by the tragic earthquakes that recently struck Turkey and Syria, Sheikh Hamdan complimented the courageous role and high levels of efficiency displayed by the teams from both organizations that joined the UAE search and rescue crew. The teams participated in the operation's immediate response, recovery, and rehabilitation phases.
The search and rescue team's commander, Colonel Khalid Ibrahim Al Hammadi, gave the Crown Prince a report on the group's rescue efforts in the badly damaged Turkish city during the meeting. The mission's success is a testament to the Emirati team's highly developed emergency response skills.
