Do-Nation Foundation Inc collaborates for grander Good Deeds Day

Cool Story - Do-Nation Foundation Inc collaborates for grander Good Deeds Day

Do-Nation Foundation Inc., a local non-profit organization, pledges to make this year's Good Deeds Day celebration even more spectacular.

On February 1, at the Msgr. Patrick Anthony Folk Research Centre in Barnard Hill, Castries, the official press launch of this year's Good Deeds Day was placed.

The principal organization for Good Deeds Day Saint Lucia is Do-Nation Foundation Inc., with Diane Felicien serving as the designated Leader.

Everyone must contribute to doing good, according to Diane Felicien, founder, and CEO of Do-Nation Foundation Inc., at that press event. According to her, Good Deeds Day has been held on a smaller scale in recent years with the cooperation of two or three groups.

Felicien explained, "What we did lately was merge and create the Good Deeds Day Saint Lucia Committee, which now includes other groups. We have gathered here to properly launch this movement and spread goodness across the country."

Felicien stated that the current situation necessitates significant involvement because of runaway crime, missing person cases, and poverty that continues to haunt many people's minds.

She said, "We need the goodness in Saint Lucia. We need to reach out there to the communities to people who don't have someone to talk to and care for them," the speaker said. "Not only for us as a family or tiny community."

The Good Deeds Day Committee is made up of members from all walks of life who will work together to promote the value of volunteering and doing good deeds in the run-up to Good Deeds Day 2023, which will be marked on April 16, 2023.

The 1975 popular song "Wake Up Everybody" by Teddy Pendergrass will serve as the theme music for Good Deeds Day 2023 in the Caribbean, which is themed "Pass The Goodness Around." The song urges listeners to get involved, wake up, and change the world.

The Ministry of Equity, Social Justice and Empowerment, St. Lucia Hospitality Credit Union, Ministry of Tourism and Culture, Where Ladies Talk, Saint Lucia National Youth Council, and Blue Waters Ltd. are some of the partner organizations that have been established thus far.

A few examples include Massy Stores Saint Lucia, DBS, National Community Foundation, and FunToSee Island Water Ferry. The Good Deeds Day banner will be displayed for two days by participating organizations, who are free to take part in any activities they see fit.

The Caribbean volunteer exchange program includes Trinidad and Tobago, St. Kitts and Nevis, Suriname, Haiti, Guyana, and Dominica, all of which are represented on the Good Deeds Day Saint Lucia Committee. However, Dubai, Israel, the United States of America, Portugal, and Ghana are also a part of a larger worldwide network that encompasses these nations.

The Good Deeds Day International Facebook page will be updated with information about events in Saint Lucia, according to Felicien.

"As a result, other nations will notice and acknowledge us. Saint Lucia is the Caribbean region's role model and the nation that is leading the way in promoting the virtue of altruism and Good Deeds Day.”

"We Saint Lucians are recognized for our koudmen style; this is what we were raised on," she continued. This is what volunteering and Good Deeds Day are all about. For Good Deeds Day, we'll be holding several events. We want 44 groups to take part in the "Pass the Baton Around" program as Saint Lucia marks 44 years of independence this year.

As part of Good Deeds Day this year, Saint Lucia will conduct a Miss Good Deeds Day Pageant. The winner receives a trip to the following Good Deeds Day conference, which is scheduled to take place in Israel, for the first time. This pageant will be staged for the first time in the Caribbean and other regions.

"We strongly advise everyone to like and follow our Facebook page, where we will provide the schedule of events on Good Deeds Day in 2023. We also urge everyone to participate in Good Deeds Day,” according to Felicien.

The Ministry of Equity, Social Transformation, and Empowerment are aware of the different concerns affecting society, such as poverty, crime, and inequality, according to Kendall Elva, Social Transformation Officer in the Ministry of Equity, Social Transformation, and Empowerment.

He stated that the cost of inaction can only make these and other problems worse.

"Several vulnerable groups, such as the elderly and children, are affected in Saint Lucia," stated Elva. "They struggle to make ends meet, and many of these people are socially isolated in many cases. The Ministry of Equity thinks that we must take measures to guarantee that these people's needs are met and addressed.”

Hundreds of thousands of people worldwide decide to volunteer and assist others, putting into practice the straightforward notion that every single person may take appropriate action, no matter how modest, to better the lives of others and positively impact the world.

People from all around the world come together on Good Deeds Day to accomplish good deeds for other people and the environment. Millions of individuals have participated since 2007 from thousands of organizations, corporations, non-profits, schools, families, and good deed-doers. Participation totals over 3.9 million in 108 nations, or a little under 8 million volunteer hours.
